Northern Colorado Heads to the Big Sky

After one short year in the Great West Football Conference, former Division II University of Northern Colorado will begin play in the Big Sky Conference beginning July 1, 2006.

UNC to Big Sky

This brings the Big Sky conference up to 9 teams. North Dakota State and South Dakota State are both itching to get into the Big Sky as well and future expansion is not off the table.

This is a good move for both UNC and the Big Sky. UNC was a good D-II program that will most likely succeed at the I-AA level. It gets the Big Sky into Colorado and balances the football schedule.
